  • THe character Project, the Old man and lady forget.

    Please feel free to add a zip or sit file in the comments.

    I was thinking of doing a group animation. Before we all cringe, at the word work, lets make it as easy as possible. Grab objects that you have seen free on the web. Post them here in the comments.(be sure to write a note as to where you got them + a name, so in the credits we can add it in) A master zip will be created that has all the scenes, objects and images, and amended to this original post with a date format so you know if yours is older or not.

    Sets: living Room, Kitchen: Half of a refrigerator and oven showing. Doc's office with plaques (medical degrees etc).

    Props: Medical office:Plaques, desk, stacks of paper, some of those freebie
    things you see at the docs office.(a box with scanned in sides) pen, prescription pad, several pictures on wall. 2 chairs.
    Living room, couch, tv, pictures, notepad, pencil, plate with eggs and bacon
    Kitchen: refrigerator, oven, backslash, grime(image maps?)

    Chars:2 old people, a woman and a man (married). A doctor's body, keep him mostly off screen(to speed production).

    The story (joke)

    Couple in their nineties are both having problems remembering things. During a checkup, the doctor tells them that they're physically okay, but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember.

    Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair. 'Want anything while I'm in the kitchen?' he asks..
    'Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?'
    'Sure.'
    'Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?' she asks.
    'No, I can remember it.'
    'Well, I'd like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so's not to forget it?'
    He says, 'I can remember that. You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries. '
    'I'd also like whipped cream. I'm certain you'll forget that, write it down?' she asks..
    Irritated, he says, 'I don't need to write it down, I can remember it! Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sake!'
    Then he toddles into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, the old man returns from the kitchen and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs. She stares at the plate for a moment. 'Where's my toast ?'

    So, I'll write up a script, and maybe someone can help me story board it out.
    Going to fire up.... Celtex.. If you remember it, look it up on the tags.
    Look for the script as an attachment soon.

    Hello, Does anyone have any props, sets, characters that would fit this short?
    Just add a comment and use the file attachment.

    The script. Attachement in celtex format.

    INT. Doctors Office, a Couple in their nineties are both having problems remembering things. They face their doctor...

    OVER THE SHOULDER:Between the older couple, truck in slowly.

    The doctor is speaking with his hands, Like an Italian. He is sitting at his desk.

    DOCTOR:

    You are both physically okay, but you might want to start writing things down to help remember them.

    Old Couple sitting in 2 chairs, Nod in unison.

    INT. COUPLES LIVING ROOM IN THEIR HOME. NIGHT TIME. He is watching tv and she is reading. The man looks at his wife.

    CLOSE UP:Old man.

    While watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair.

    Old man

    Want anything while I'm in the kitchen?

    close up: woman at the table reading.

    Old Woman

    Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?

    close up: man.

    OLD MAN

    Sure.

    The old man turns and starts to walk to the kitchen.

    close up:woman.

    OLD WOMAN

    Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?

    Close up:man.

    The man looks at the notepad on the table.

    Close UP:notepad. hold a Beat.

    Close up:man.

    OLD MAN

    No, I can remember it.

    OLD WOMAN

    CLOSE UP:

    Well, I'd like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so's not to forget it?

    OLD MAN

    I can remember that. You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries. '

    Turns again and starts walking to the kitchen.

    OLD WOMAN

    I'd also like whipped cream. I'm certain you'll forget that, write it down?'

    OLD MAN

    cringes, without turning around, waving his left arm up and speaking in an irritated voice,

    I don't need to write it down, I can remember it! Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sake!

    Then he toddles into the kitchen.

    Opens the fridge.

    Fade to old woman reading. Voice over Sound effects of a man taking a plate from the cupboard. Old woman moves her head a little, reading more.

    Shot of the door to the kitchen. Shuffling can be heard and sizzling bacon.

    Cut to The old man filling the door of the kitchen, with a plate of bacon and eggs in his hand. He walks over and puts it next to his wife on the table.

    CLOSE UP:old woman's face thinking.

    The old woman stares at the plate for a moment, and then looks up.

    OLD WOMAN

    Where's my toast?
