Nvidia's new Fermi Architecture, compatible with lightwave 96, or core?

Doesn't core use cuda.....  These new ones have multiple cuda cores.....  I doubt they will help 9.6 at all.

Will Nvidia's Fermi Architecture Bring Movie-Quality 3D to Your PC?

So it's a shift or is it just twice as fast as the last one....

'Fermi might not make the next Crysis, Far Cry, or Bioshock look quite like Avatar, but it could prove a crucial first step in someday bringing about that reality.'

I for one hope that it does help individual artists compete with the big houses with 300 node render farms. (or more)

I mean if one 10 sec test uses 30 frames per sec, that's 300 frames.  If they take 1 min to render well, it will take 1min on he stack... but you with one machine....  (It'll take 5 hours.) how many iterations does it take for you to get what you want....   3, 5, 9...   These promises of real time on one machine really levels the playing field....  Here's hoping...

Some people have already said, quad core, or even eight core machines, and having maybe several of them really help you compete.  It's true. Just having 2 to 4 of these with multiple  screamer nodes really cuts down the time for you.  But the problem is just when we had only dv to contend with HD pops up which push render times to near film times...   So it's almost like the small average guy has to have his own little farm just to compete.  Gmd mentioned that he did a project and they gave him 2 or 4 quad cores Macs....  He loved it... But renting them was almost as expensive as buying them.....
