    2010 Nov 11th Meeting Shot

Shot from the Meeting.  Paul gave a great tutorial on how to set up a joystick type control for morphs concerning lipsync and characters.  He set up an up and down and horizontal squish morphs for his charcters mouth, and linked them using nulls, and expresions to form a control for the mouth.  He did this for some other features, like head tilt, tongue control, eye blinks etc...

With this simple setup, he was able to get some nice lip sync done fast.

Thanks Paul, it was very informative.  He created a phamlet that he gave out.  I think we might be able to have some made for the next meeting also.

Some news periodically will be posted here.
Since the comment area is the one area of drupal that works consistently, and easily, this page is meant to be a quick link for users of the group to just post comments to.
    Attachments are allowed.

Image files can be uploaded using the image picker or as a file attachment.
Make sure you click Switch to rich text editor, to preview the image.

If you have the html editor active, (you see icons for bold, italic etc),it won't allow you to post the code for the image. Click Switch to plain Text editor and then insert your image.  Html code will automatically appear.  You can then switch back to preview the image.

Image picker will allow you to scale down your image, and apply a link to it.
I recommend nothing bigger than 640x480 as the preview, otherwise it will break the css, since this is a fixed width theme.  You can select to link to the original which will pop up with the lightbox, full size.

For the next meeting we will Stick to this format as much as possible:

    7:30 pm - 7:55 pm ----- Arrival and mingling
7:55 pm - 8:00 pm ----- Brief Overview of the nights Meeting
    8:00 pm - 8:30 pm ----- Sponsers demos and/or Industry News
    8:30 pm - 9:00 pm ----- Tips and tricks
    9:00 pm - 9:20 pm ----- Break for food
    9:20 pm - 10:00pm ---- Tips and Tricks continues
10:00 pm - End --------- SHOW AND TELL / Question and Answers and User wip.

The meeting minutes for april 2009.

This meeting was good. GMD showed us how to use the dp light plugin and put alot of time into creating a unique set to demonstrate the different lights. He also showed us an f-18 with landing gear that opened and closed using one null to control the motions. He used the cycler plugin, which was very elegant because it was simple to setup, and predictible. I showed a little about the fiberFX plugin, and how it has some problems. Save your hair settings as a file, because I had problems saving and reloading my scene files. (the hair settings would be lost) NExt time I think we will work with the guides in fiberfx.
Al Showed us his House renders, which were awesome. What a great use of lightwave, visualizing what his house could be.(Well his brothers house) GMD also went over HDR lighting, and some ways to speed up the render time lowering the threshold for sampling. There were some Wip work, Last but not least was the cupcakes. Man these were delicious. Thanks GMD. What a treat. The frosting was oh so buttery tasting.

    Hi Antonio, Joe (from Philly)

    Hi Antonio,

Joe (from Philly) here... thanks for the invite to Splashlight's open house. I rsvp'd that I'd be there. Don't know much about them, but their website is great. Is Proton really on their staff? That would be like meeting Dennis Hopper... too cool.

Our meeting at Splashlight was very good.  About 20 users. We were all amazed at the hypervoxal flame that Tony did, and the box model WIlliam did. Antonio

    The November 2008 meeting flyer

The Mass Contact module allows attachments, but they never seem to show up in the actual email. I think the author of the module is working on that. Hopefully, I'll be able to do a workaround for images in the mass contact. Hopefully, maybe a newsletter might be in the works if I can get that to work.

    Antonio

P.s. Thanks to GMD for this fine image.

  • Ideas for the User group

    Hello,

I was thinking of making a second authenticaed User type in which only people who actually participate become escalated to. I would dare to call this group "Core Members".

I'm not sure but people might not want to post work they did to the public.
Of course this new type of user would have access to all posts. Regular users who sign up will not be of this type of user and only have access to memeber posts.

This would mean any posts by core members would have a toggle if they wanted other core members to see, or everyone.

    Throwing out ideas.
Anybody have any ideas on how to make the site more useful to the group, please let me know, at antoniovp@gmail.com

    Antonio
